Welcome to the very first edition of the Surge newsletter – which will now be published along with Symphony every month. We want this newsletter to be the platform where you can access all the latest updates and information about the transformation. In the June edition, we bring to you news from our sites, success stories across several transformation areas, digital tool tip as well as our brand new series – Humans of Surge. Surge Transformation Updates:
Location: Gajraula
- Expert-led workshops were conducted to kick-start wave 1 initiatives.
- Trials initiated for improving the yield of Di-ketene and Pyridines and Picolines (Wave 1 initiatives).
Location: Nira
- Data diode infra has been installed for Boiler-F of Utility plant for efficient data logging and further analysis.
- Analog Public Address (PA) systems at each plant are being replaced with a centralised IP based system connected to the control room. Use from desk phones will be enabled for seamless communication.
- In an attempt to improve AC20 yield from the current 98% to 99%, hypothesis testing has been initiated for 2nd Anhydride plant.
Location: Savli
- Mobile alerts have been enabled as part of the online temperature and humidity monitoring solution for data center and panel room.
- The project for norm reduction at the liquid CC plant will kickstart soon - data compilation is infrastructure set-up is currently underway.
- Several surge awareness sessions including shop floor meetings and digital awareness programs were done
Location: Bharuch
- Yield improvement for 3CP, P2E and 2CP products is planned with trials underway for hypothesis validation
- To encourage digitalisation ideas among employees, Sankalp awareness sessions were conducted for 100+ members of staff at Bharuch. Humans of Surge - Introducing the People Behind the Transformation...
As part of the first edition of Humans of Surge – we bring to you Mahesh Mandwarya.
With a background in engineering, Mahesh has always been passionate about digitalisation. This passion became a career when he began leading transformation projects at Jubilant Ingrevia. He says digitalisation is not just about technology – it requires continuous involvement from the business teams to become successful.
This is what makes him most excited about Surge as well since every target, process improvement or optimisation being chased is directly linked to the broader business goals and strategy. He is currently the overall product owner for manufacturing under Surge.
Mahesh is ensuring previous lessons from digitalisation projects are being embedded into Surge. One such project he led was the digitalisation of our pyridine manufacturing process where big data and advanced technologies were leveraged to replicate the ‘golden batch’ for raw material norms optimisation and energy monitoring as well as optimisation. This helped eliminate the excess use of Aldehyde and Ammonia and saved excess steam consumption.
“With several pilot projects, we understood the opportunities for potential savings with the use of data and we are now taking up these critical digitalisation initiatives as part of Project Surge. I am sure this will lead to even better process performance and norms improvement, that too at scale,” he says.
Surge Slogan Competition at Sites:
The Surge team held a slogan competition with the topic "digital transformation with Surge" at each of our locations, and it was incredibly well received. Across sites, we received over 345 entries, and the best slogans were recognised and rewarded. All of the slogans accurately captured the enthusiasm of the staff to participate in Jubilant Ingrevia's digitalisation journey.
